Eligibility
The adaptive technology labs are available to University of Minnesota students with disabilities.
Access Priorities
These priorities are based on the University of Minnesota's commitment to equal education opportunity and information access for students with disabilities. They are intended to support and enhance the teaching mission of the University of Minnesota.
Access priorities
| 1. | Individual disabled students working on course assignments. |
| 2. | Faculty, staff or access assistants working directly with a disabled student or preparing materials for use by disabled students. |
| 3. | Individuals and groups participating in workshops, seminars or training sessions on adaptive technology. |
| 4. | University and non-university visitors and guests interested in adaptive technology. |
Access Rules
Those who use the Computer Accommodations Program facilities must abide by the following rules. Individuals using adaptive technology labs must be eligible as described above. Violations include but are not limited to the following:
- Impersonating an eligible student
- Assisting an ineligible person to use computer Accommodations Program facilities in
any way
- Use adaptive technology lab hardware and software inappropriately.
Violations include but are not limited to the following:
- Disconnecting, reconnecting or reconfiguring hardware
- Copying software that is copyrighted or otherwise restricted
- Using the Computer Accommodations Program facilities for non-University work
- Removing, changing or reconfiguring files and settings on adaptive technology lab equipment
- Damaging or removing any property from the adaptive technology lab
- Using software that interferes with Computer Accommodations Program facility operations or networks
- Using software that interferes with other adaptive technology lab users
Rules, Procedures and Protocols
- Refrain from eating, drinking or smoking in an adaptive technology lab
- Provide identification when requested by Computer Accommodations Program, Disability Services or ADCS staff
- Respond appropriately to requests made by Computer Accommodations Program, Disability Services or ADCS staff (e.g., a request to move to another machine).
- Refrain from the generation, display or printing of offensive material as covered by the University's policy on equal opportunity and non-discrimination, including sexually or racially offensive or harassing materials
- Refrain from disruptive, threatening or abusive language and behavior
- Wear shirts and footwear Roller blades are prohibited.
Penalties
Violations of the above rules may constitute violations of state and/or federal laws as well as of the Student Conduct Code and will be prosecuted in any applicable venue(s). In addition, violations may result in immediate suspension or denial of facility use privileges.
