ISSUE:

The use of images as navigational controls can be a tremendous aid for visitors with learning disabilities, mobility impairments and those whose native language is not that in which the page is presented. Select images carefully and provide a clear, complete and concise alternative text description. See "ALT Tags" for more information.

It may be difficult or impossible for some individuals with mobility impairments to use a mouse with enough precision to click on small controls. Buttons and icons should be 36pt by 36pt or larger.

STANDARD:

  • Include clear, concise and informative alternative text for all non-text controls.


  • Use buttons and icons that are 36pt by 36pt or larger.
