Displays
ISSUE:
Imagine preparing to drive the car of someone who is much taller or shorter than you. Furthermore, imagine that you cannot adjust the seat or the rear-view mirrors. Although body size alone may be a sufficient argument for providing height and angle adjustable displays, these types of adjustments are essential accommodations for some users with disabilities.
A user in a wheelchair or a user with other physical impairments may require that a display be at a lower height and/or angle. A user with a visual impairment may need to raise the height of a display, bringing it closer to eye-level and allowing them to get as close to the information as possible. Whether necessitated by a visual impairment or simply a convenience for all users, The ability to adjust the horizontal and vertical angle of a display can eliminate screen glare and improve ergonomics.
STANDARD:
- Provide methods for adjusting the height and angle of a display.
- Locate displays as to reduce screen glare from direct sun-light or artificial lighting.
- Provide non-reflective display surfaces or non-glare filters.
