Documentation
ISSUE:
Hardware documentation and training materials in text, Portable Document File (PDF) and audio or video tape formats among others may be difficult or impossible to access for some users with disabilities. A user with low-vision may have difficulty accessing standard size text and small or intricate diagrams. Although scan-and-read systems can provide access to text materials for users who are blind, these reading systems cannot interpret diagrams and other graphical images. A user with a learning disability may find text-based training materials inaccessible. A user who is deaf or hard of hearing may get little information from a training video, unless the tape includes text-captioning. Whether a user has a disability or not, we all learn in different ways.
STANDARD:
- Provide documentation and training materials in alternative accessible formats upon request.
- Provide accessible customer and technical support.
- Ensure that any training provided by manufacturers, providers or other parties accommodates the functional capabilities of all participants.
